Being a Military brat and traveling all over the world
growing up, I didn't get much chance to have a dog. We had a couple of dogs
through the years but never long because my father was one that never let
the dogs move with us. That would break my heart. I used to tell my Mom,"When
I grow up, I'm gonna have as many dogs as I want!" Well, when I got married
and moved to my own home, I went to the shelter and got the cutest little
Bengi type dog and a cat. We lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets.
Oops. In the mid 70's we got our own place but there were still restrictions,
so it wasn't until 1980 when I got my first pure-bred dog, an Irish Setter
named Rusty, (What else do you name an Irish Setter). I decided that he needed
obedience training so I got involved with the local Kennel Club, which I
still belong to today, and that's when my adventure in Dog Shows began.
Through the years I have owned and shown several different breeds, including
Irish Setters, Golden Retrievers, Chihuahuas, Giant Schnauzers, and German
Shorthair Pointers. Off and on I handled dogs for other people but never
thought that I would someday do it as a profession. I handle all breeds but
only a few dogs at a time as I believe that they still need to have a family
and a lot of attention. That's what I try to
do while the dogs are here with me. I am also an experienced Vet
